America's Promise Alliance Releases "Building a Grad Nation"

America is making progress in reducing a nationwide crisis in the number of students who drop out of high school. The number of high schools where 40 percent or more of the students fail to graduate fell significantly from 2002 to 2008, according to analysis of the most recent government data compiled in Building a Grad Nation, a report recently released by America's Promise Alliance, Civic Enterprises and Johns Hopkins University's Everyone Graduates Center.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan called the report "required reading for anyone interested in public education in America." The report discusses the strides that have been made in the past decade in reducing the dropout rate, and showcases the practical and effective strategies that have moved the needle.
