The Children's Cabinets Network Video

In this video, hear from Elizabeth Gaines, policy director at the Forum for Youth Investment (The Forum), as well as Children's Cabinet Network members from Tennessee, Maine, and Ohio. You will learn about the Children's Cabinet Network and the role of the Ready by 21 approach.

The Children's Cabinet Network consists of state executive branch coordinating bodies for children and youth. About 20 states utilize Children's Cabinets to align and track their work to improve outcomes for young people. The Forum facilitates the Children's Cabinet Network to provide best practices to these policy coordinating bodies, which are located around the country. The Children's Cabinet Network provides an outlet for Children's Cabinet directors, staff and members to learn from each other through peer to peer exchange. To that end, the Forum hosts monthly conference calls, virtual roundtables and targeted in-person convenings.

The Forum also works to provide Children's Cabinets with Ready by 21 tools, such as a template for mapping fiscal resources for children and youth, to help integrate big picture thinking into the policy work of these collaborative bodies. In addition, the Forum provides technical assistance to help develop new and sustain existing Children's Cabinets.
