Karen Pittman Advises Innovative "Whole Child/Whole Community" Teams

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and the Stupski Foundation established the Partnership for Next Generation Learning in November 2009 with six states, Kentucky, Maine, New York, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin, to improve local public education systems. Each state will begin the work by setting up Innovation Labs, teams of teachers, principals, and district and state administrators that will work to accelerate scalable innovation in their states by designing cross-sector systems to support the full range of student outcomes.

Karen Pittman was one of six experts invited to act as an advisor to the Innovation Labs teams at their first planning meeting on May 19. Karen, representing the Forum and the Ready by 21 Partnership, was invited because of her decades of experience in helping educators operationalize “whole child/whole community” principles.
