Site Spotlight

Kentucky. On February 25, Karen Finn and Charles Smith joined T.J. Delahanty and his colleauges in Kentucky for a kick-off of the Ready by 21 Quality Counts initiative. The event was hosted by the Kentucky Youth Development Coordinating Council, whose new statewide strategic plan is based on the Ready by 21 framework and includes four key strategy areas: quality, coordination, accountability and opportunities. In attendance were leaders from a range of private, public, state and local agencies. For more information about the Council and to read the strategic plan, see

, Grand Rapids and Lexington are all working on "youth master plans" or community wide, cross-system action plans focused on youth programs and policies. In late February we hosted a conference call for these sites to talk with each other and with Forum staff about how to use Ready by 21 ideas and tools to frame and support this work. If others of you are working on community or state plans like this, or are simply trying to "connect the dots" between the many youth-related initiatives going on in your community, please let Nalini know so she can share resources from the February conference call with you and connect you with colleagues who are working on this.
