Ready by 21: Making Quality Count
The Ready by 21® Quality Counts initiative provided leaders and intermediaries from 12 cities and states around the country with a bold challenge – improving the quality and reach of out-of-school time programming.
With an infusion of national and local momentum and technical assistance from the Forum for Youth Investment and the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality, sites assessed community capacity and did three things based on that assessment: introduced a program quality and workforce development strategy, increased available information about the OST sector, and supported the emergence of a leadership agenda connecting quality to other key issues and partners. Making Quality Count summarizes lessons learned across the sites and provides recommendations for organizations, networks or communities looking to strengthen the quality of programs available for children and youth.
