Ready by 21 presented at National Conference on Education

From February 11-13, the American Association of School Administrators held their National Conference on Education in Phoenix, AZ, which brought together two thousand school administrators from across the country. Although Karen Pittman was scheduled to speak alongside Dan Domenech, Executive Director of AASA, at the conference, she was unable to attend due to DC weather conditions. Thanks to Quintin Shepherd, Superintendent, Amboy CUSD #272 and Ready by 21 Peer Workgroup Field Consultant, who presented in Karen’s stead. Dan and Quintin provided a rousing and informative Thought Leaders session to 150 conference attendees. Dan started the session with a challenge to the audience to focus on Big Picture Thinking, and Quintin, provided an overview to the Ready by 21 principles and concepts.

In addition to the Thought Leaders session, conference attendees learned more about the Ready by 21 Partnership through exhibit booths, including representation by Corporate Voices for Working Families, NFocus, Gallup and the Ready by 21 Partnership, as a whole.

On Wednesday, February 10, prior to the conference, fifteen members of the AASA Ready by 21 Peer Workgroup participated in a meeting and dinner. Members heard a presentation by Dr. Robert Rodosky, from Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville KY, who spoke about data alignment efforts in their county and their plans to move forward as a city in the Ready by 21 Southeast Challenge. Opportunities and supports for Peer Workgroup members who want to engage in Ready by 21 in their community were highlighted as well.
