The guide provides detailed information about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit, Medicaid and other federal benefits. This marks the eighth year that Corporate Voices has updated the Employer Guide and the EITC toolkit and made it available to companies and other organizations at no cost to help low-wage employees take advantage of a host of federal benefits available to them.

AASA Conference Brings Educators on Board with Ready by 21  National Conference on Education Logo

Quick: You've got 60 seconds to explain why it's so important for school superintendents to fully engage with their communities to make sure all youth are ready for college, work and life. That was the challenge handed to Forum President Karen Pittman at the national Conference on Education in mid-February. Here's her response (audio file).

Getting educators excited about the value and potential of Ready by 21 is crucial - and that's why Pittman and many other Ready by 21 National Partners traveled to Denver for the conference, held by the American Association of School Administrators. Materials and presentations from the conference are available here.

Louisville Hosts Education/Employer Workshop

We all know that educators and employers must work together to increase educational attainment rates and prepare the workforce for the jobs of tomorrow. But how?

One answer comes from Louisville, Ky. - one of the Ready by 21 Southeast Challenge cities - which recently hosted a special workshop, "Bringing Educators and Employers Together to Create A 21st Century Workforce." Greater Louisville Inc., 55,000 Degrees, HIRE Education Forum, the University of Louisville and the Lumina Foundation worked with nationally-renowned educational consultant Mark Taylor to examine generational issues and dynamics in the workplace, with an emphasis on developing the most productive, positive and effective workforce possible.
