Importance of Community/School Partnerships Keynote at AASA

Merita Irby gave a presentation at the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) State Leadership Conference on May 2, 2008, in San Francisco, CA. The speech discussed the importance on the role of community/school partnerships and focused on a new way of doing business outlined in the “Leadership for Change” report from the National Superintendent of the Year Forum, 2007.

Ready by 21 Quality Counts New York Kick-Off

On April 1 and 2, Karen Finn, Senior Fellow at the Forum, joined the New York Office of Children and Family Services and the Onandaga, Rockland and Orange counties’ Youth Bureaus to kick off the Ready by 21 Quality Counts Initiative.

Forum Testifies For Tennessee Children and Youth Resource Mapping Bill

As a part of the Ready by 21 national partnership agreement between the Forum and the National Conference of State Legislatures, the Forum agrees to support state legislators as they work to implement a Ready by 21 approach in their states.

Forum Charts Path for Youth Services in New Orleans

AASA and the Forum: Collaborating with Superintendents

United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley -- Inspire 4 Life: Summit on Youth. The United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley (UWMBMV) recently hosted their first Youth Summit. The Summit brought together community and corporate leaders, policy makers, youth providers and key stakeholders.

State Children's Cabinets and Councils Capitol Hill Forum

In December, the American Youth Policy Forum and the Forum for Youth Investment co-hosted a lunchtime forum on Capitol Hill to launch the publication series and convene stakeholders to examine Children's Cabinets and Councils. Immigrant Youth Development Article

Forum staff members Karen Pittman, Nicole Yohalem and Nalini Ravindranath contributed to an article on immigrant youth in collaboration with the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the Grantmakers for Children, Youth, & Families (GCYF). The article, "Targeted Youth Development: A Closer Look at Immigrant Youth," was published in the latest edition of Insight, a GCYF publication.
