Michelle Massie


Director of Opportunity Nation and Strategic Initiatives

Michelle leads the Forum's efforts to better utilize data about economic mobility and opportunity in America to secure bipartisan support for policies that improve racial, social, and economic equity. She is responsible for advancing the Forum's Opportunity Nation initiatives, including the signature annual Opportunity Index data tool.

Prior to joining the Forum, Michelle was the Director of Research and Communications at A+ Schools, an education advocacy organization in Pittsburgh. In this capacity, she managed the organization’s marketing and communications program, as well as produced an annual indicators report on public and charter schools in Pittsburgh. Michelle also spent five years as a journalist, and worked for the U.S. Department of Labor, Workforce Data Quality Campaign and Manhattan Strategy Group over a 10-year span.

She is a graduate of Rutgers University and holds bachelor’s degrees in both journalism and political science. Michelle received her Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.
