Ready by 21 Partnership Engaged in Planning & Capacity Building

Philip Morris USA, and Altria company (PM USA), awarded the Forum and the Ready by 21 Partnership $1.46 million to support an intensive seven month planning and capacity building process to embark on a five-year effort to support state and local leaders committed to doing business differently to ensure that all young people are ready for college, work and life. In addition to supporting partners participation in the intensive planning process, the grant provides partners with funding to ensure staff, board and members are fully informed and engaged, core capacities are in place, and critical work is completed. Philip Morris USA engaged the Bridgespan Group to work with the Forum and the Partners under a separate grant.

The Partners have developed a shared agenda, created an aggressive leadership engagement plan and are now identifying first year coordination opportunities. We anticipate having a resource development and implementation plan complete by the end of February and are convinced that we have the combined capacity to challenge and support at least 2,000 leaders to think differently, act differently and act together to make measurable improvements in the quality and quantity of family, school and community available for all children and youth, but especially those most in need.
