Community Development and Youth Development: Beacons: A Union of Community and Youth Development

This report is a compilation of three case studies of New York City organizations that have started Beacons, school-based community centers that offer young people and families a wide array of opportunities to engage in youth development and community building. The case studies show how three organizations with different origins — a CDC, an  immigrant family advocacy organization and a child and family services organization — approach a similar challenge. These case studies, as well as those in the other publications coming out of this meeting, were prepared by Judith Silber, with the assistance of Shawn Mooring and Annetta Seecharran.
