At the Making Ohio Schools Work conference, twenty school administrators from the Buckeye state discussed how Ready by 21 could be applied to their districts and schools. This workshop is part of the American Association of School Administrators' (AASA) strategy to meet educational leaders where they are -- in this case, at their state administrator conferences.

Ohio Family and Children First (OFCF) has developed a comprehensive action plan to  align and coordinate data and resources for children and youth with the long term goal of improving outcomes over a range of areas, e.g. increase post-secondary education attainment and quality of life for families. OCCF is statutorily defined as the Governor’s Cabinet for children and families.

Ohio Family and Children First Cabinet Council 2004 Indicator Manual includes six commitments:  expectant parents and newborn thrive, infants and toddlers thrive, children are ready for school, children and youth succeed in school, children and youth engage in healthy behaviors, youth successfully transition into adulthood.

The bill establishes certain duties and responsibilities of the Family & Children First (FCF) Cabinet Council and county FCF councils.  Ohio Family & Children First is a partnership of government agencies and community organizations seeking to improve the well being of children and families.  The state agency members include the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Office of Budget
