Kim Phillips-Knope is the Senior Manager of Training Design and Delivery at the Weikart Center. Kim’s commitment to outstanding training and education has been sparked by teachers, professors, coaches, students, youth, and mentors who both inspired and challenged, activating in her a felt understanding of the true power that meaningful connection can have. Kim has over twenty years of experience working with young people, as an educator in both traditional and non-traditional classrooms, within community-based organizations, and as a soccer coach. As a consultant for state and local governments, Kim has facilitated workshops for and collaborated with schools and organizations throughout the country, supporting their efforts to create exceptional learning environments for all young people, especially those with marginalized identities. Her specialized approach engages participants in both heart and mind, generating a space where learners feel safe, yet challenged to tackle the complex issues they face. She’s thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with clients and continue living out her passion for designing and implementing extraordinary educational opportunities that engage participants in transformational change.
Prior to joining the Weikart Center, Kim served as the Safe and Supportive Schools Consultant for the Michigan Department of Education. In that role, she inspired, empowered, and equipped schools to provide equitable, meaningful, and high-quality educational experiences to LGBTQ students and their families. Kim earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Social Work degrees from the University of Michigan.
