Leanne joined the research team in November 2015. Her interest in research began in 2013 when she worked as an assistant at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, studying metacognitive processes in younger adults. Following that she worked at the University of Michigan exploring attentional capacity in younger and older adults; then at Wayne State University where she studied problematic drinking from a health and personality perspective. Additionally, Leanne has worked with Macomb County to assess the burden of substance abuse in the county and comparatively with state and national level data. Leanne has earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.
Leanne has paired her research experience with clinical experience in behavioral health care, specifically substance abuse for adolescents and adults. During this time is when Leanne recognized the importance of youth development from both an academic and behavioral vantage point.
