Winsome Waite, PhD, is a senior education fellow at the Forum for Youth Investment where she provides expertise and supports in K-12 education and in the science of adolescent learning and development. She is a former teacher, school district, and nonprofit program leader with more than 30 years of progressive experience.
Waite has led program development and research-to-practice initiatives to support education leaders in schools, districts, and state education agencies. She has managed various state and district level education projects and provided a wide range of technical assistance and coaching activities to help ensure effective and sustained implementation efforts. Her work is based on principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as culturally responsive practices. Waite leverages a strong network of educators, researchers, and policy experts to advance education change in K-12. Prior to the Forum for Youth Investment, she led the science of adolescent learning and development work at the Alliance for Excellent Education. She serves as a founding member of the National Science of Learning and Development (SoLD) Alliance; member of the Social, Emotional, and Academic Development (SEAD) policy work, and partner in the Whole Child Equity Initiative.
Waite holds bachelor’s degrees in elementary and early childhood education, a master’s degree in K–12 curriculum and instruction, and a doctorate degree in education leadership.
