The Forum Statement on Uvalde School Shooting
May 25, 2022
Washington, DC – The Forum for Youth Investment grieves with the school community of Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. We join in mourning and offer our condolences in response to this horrific act of senseless violence toward children and their teachers.
“The staggering pain these families and communities are facing must feel insurmountable. Thoughts and prayers will never be enough; we need policy and systemic change so that young people feel safe and supported to learn. Safe, supportive, and engaging environments that foster a sense of belonging are critical to a young person’s development.” said Mishaela Durán, Forum CEO and President.
We urge our partners to reach out to one another, invite and continue dialogue, identify those youth in crisis, and take action to improve policies and systems so all young people can thrive.
